Description

1914 Barber Dime US Mint, a Rare Coin, Fair Condition See Photos. The 1914 Barber Dime is 90% silver, produced by the U.S. Mint, represents a significant period in American coinage, nearing the end of Chief Engraver Charles E. Barber's nearly quarter-century-long design reign. Struck at the Philadelphia (no mintmark), Denver ("D"), and San Francisco ("S") Mints, these dimes feature the classic obverse design of Lady Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap and wreath, while the reverse displays the "ONE DIME" inscription within a wreath. The year 1914 saw considerable mintages across all three facilities, with the Philadelphia Mint producing over 17 million coins, Denver just under 12 million, and San Francisco minting around 2.1 million, making the "S" mintmark a scarcer issue for collectors. These dimes, composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, served as a workhorse of American commerce as the nation moved towards its involvement in World War I, and they remain a popular target for collectors seeking to complete the Barber Dime series.
