Description

1947 Jefferson Nickel Coin Collectible - Very Fine condition, see photos. The 1947 Jefferson Nickel is a staple of post-war American coinage, representing a period of high production as the U.S. Mint worked to meet the currency demands of a rapidly growing economy. Struck at the Philadelphia, Denver (D), and San Francisco (S) mints, the 1947 issue is generally considered common in circulated grades, but it holds a special place for collectors due to the high quality of the strikes often found from the Denver and San Francisco facilities. While the Philadelphia mintage was the highest of the three, the 1947-S is particularly noted for its relatively low mintage of approximately 24.7 million, making it a "semi-key" date that is frequently sought after to complete date-and-mint-mark sets.
