1954 Jefferson Nickel Coin Collectible - Very fine condition, see photos. The 1954 Jefferson Nickel is a fascinating study in post-war mid-century minting, representing a year where strike quality varied dramatically across the three U.S. mints. Struck in the standard 75% copper and 25% nickel alloy, this issue features Felix Schlag’s classic portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the obverse and his Virginia estate, Monticello, on the reverse. While over 140 million were produced across Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco, the 1954 is notoriously difficult to find with "Full Steps" (FS) on the reverse—a designation requiring five or six crisp, unmarred steps on the Monticello building. For collectors, the 1954-S is particularly notable as it marks one of the final years of regular coinage production at the San Francisco Mint before its decade-long hiatus starting in 1955, making "S-mint" survivors a favorite for set builders.
