Rennie Stennett was a dependable second baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates for nine seasons, playing from 1971 to 1979. A key member of the Pirates' successful teams of that era, he was part of the 1979 World Series championship club and was also the lead-off hitter for MLB's first-ever all-Black and Latino starting lineup on September 1, 1971. Stennett is most famous for achieving one of baseball's rarest feats: on September 16, 1975, he became the only player in the modern (20th century) era to get seven hits in a nine-inning game, going a perfect 7-for-7 with four singles, two doubles, and a triple in a 22-0 victory against the Chicago Cubs.
