Danny Ainge is celebrated as a premier multi-sport athlete and a high-impact figure in the NBA as a player, coach, and executive. After a brief professional baseball career with the Toronto Blue Jays, he joined the Boston Celtics in 1981 and became a key contributor to their 1984 and 1986 championship teams. Known for his "pesky" and competitive style, Ainge was an elite long-range shooter, retiring as one of only three players at the time to surpass 1,000 career three-pointers. Over a 14-season playing career with the Celtics, Kings, Trail Blazers, and Suns, he averaged 11.5 points and 4.0 assists per game and earned an All-Star selection in 1988. Transitioning to the front office, he served as the Celtics' President of Basketball Operations from 2003 to 2021, famously orchestrating the "Big Three" trade that led to the 2008 NBA title and earning Executive of the Year honors. He currently serves as the CEO of Basketball Operations for the Utah Jazz.
