Dave Winfield's tenure with the New York Yankees, though marked by immense talent and impressive statistics, was perhaps most defined by his tumultuous relationship with owner George Steinbrenner. Signed to a then-record 10-year, $23 million contract in 1980, Winfield immediately became a cornerstone of the Yankees lineup, consistently delivering 100-RBI seasons and earning multiple Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards.
