Antique 1800s Chafing Dish Stand By F.B. Rogers Silver Co. with Oil Burner - Silver Plated in Excellent Condition See Photos - Measures 12" H x 15" W ... This F.B. Rogers Silver Co. Chafing Dish is a grand example of Victorian Revival silverplate, likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The piece features a traditional domed lid with a fluted, shell-like texture and a highly ornate finial, supported by a heavy three-legged stand with scrolled, floral motifs. A defining feature of this set is the original oil burner (or spirit lamp) housed at the base, which allowed for portable food warming during formal buffet service. While the F.B. Rogers Silver Co. was founded in 1883 in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, many of their most popular "silver on copper" pieces were mass-market luxuries intended to emulate the opulence of solid sterling at a more accessible price point.
