Pregnant in Repose Art Pastels Paint Signed by Artist - Thoughtful home decor in Good Condition, See Photos - Measures 30" W x 22" H ... This tender and expressive mixed-media work, titled Pregnant in Repose, uses a delicate blend of watercolors and pastels to celebrate the quiet strength of motherhood. The composition features a woman reclining gracefully, her form draped in flowing, sun-drenched fabrics of gold and violet. The artist, Mary Field Neville, masterfully balances the fluid, transparent washes of watercolor in the background with the tactile, rhythmic strokes of pastel that define the subject's features and the intricate patterns of her attire. The soft, luminous lighting creates a halo-like effect around her, evoking a sense of serenity and sacredness. Signed by the artist on the right, this piece is a poignant example of figurative art that combines technical precision with deep emotional resonance, capturing a fleeting moment of peace and anticipation.

M. Neville (1932-2024), a popular artist, native of W. Virginia, was educated at W. Virginia University and School of Design. She worked as a commercial artist in New York City graphic design, fashion and general illustration; she has held positions as advertising manager and art instructor giving workshops and teaching privately throughout the South. Based in Nashville middle Tennessee, her paintings of mostly watercolors, sketches and oil on canvas are included in private and public collections including the Tennessee State Museum and historic venues such as Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage. M. Neville held many prominent arts positions: Board member of the Madison Art Center, Tennessee Watercolor Society (Regional Director, Secretary, and Exhibition Chair), a member of the Nashville Artist Guild and a signature member of the Kentucky, Southern, and Tennessee Watercolor Societies.
