1920 S Mercury Dime Silver Coin in Good condition, see photos. The 1920-S Mercury Dime is a captivating early-date entry in the classic Winged Liberty Head dime series, struck at the San Francisco Mint during a period of transition following World War I. Composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, the coin features Adolph A. Weinman's iconic obverse design of Liberty in a winged Phrygian cap—a design frequently mistaken for the Roman god Mercury—and a reverse depicting a traditional fasces bound by leather straps alongside an olive branch (Garrison, 2013). The 1920-S is highly prized by numismatists due to widespread quality issues at the facility during that era. It is notoriously difficult to find examples featuring a sharp, well-defined strike and they can bring significant sums at auction.
