1926 Standing Liberty Quarter

$25.00

1926 Standing Liberty Quarter in Very Fine to Fair condition, see photos.  The coin is 90% silver and represents a classic and highly collected piece of American coinage, designed by renowned sculptor Hermon Akins MacNeil during the height of the Renaissance of American Coinage. The obverse design features a powerful image of Liberty stepping through a stone gateway, holding a shield in one hand and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing a nation prepared for defense yet desiring peace. By 1926, the design had been modified from its original 1916 inception, featuring a recessed date at the pedestal to protect it from premature wear, as well as an armored chainmail breastplate on Liberty. Struck in 90% fine silver at the Philadelphia Mint (indicated by the lack of a mintmark), this coin showcases a beautifully crisp eagle in full flight on the reverse, flanked by stars. As a late-date issue in the series, the 1926 Philadelphia strike is known for being relatively abundant, making it an excellent and highly sought-after type coin for numismatists looking to capture the intricate artistry of early 20th-century U.S. currency.
