Chris Childs carved out a nine-season career in the NBA as a tough, defensive-minded point guard. After going undrafted in 1989 and playing several seasons in the Continental Basketball Association, Childs made his NBA debut with the New Jersey Nets in 1994. He is best known for his five-year tenure with the New York Knicks, where he was a key contributor during their playoff runs in the late 1990s, including their trip to the 1999 NBA Finals. Childs also had a notable stint with the Toronto Raptors before finishing his career back with the Nets. A gritty competitor, he was known for his pesky defense and ability to run an offense. One of the most memorable moments of his career was an on-court altercation with Kobe Bryant, which exemplified the rugged style of play of the Knicks during that era. Over his career, Childs averaged 6.9 points and 4.9 assists per game.
