Frank "Sweet Music" Viola was a dominant left-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball during the 1980s and early 1990s, best remembered as the ace of the Minnesota Twins. He anchored the rotation for the Twins' 1987 championship team, earning World Series MVP honors after winning the decisive Game 7, and followed that performance by capturing the American League Cy Young Award in 1988 with an impressive 24–7 record. Known for his durability and a devastating circle changeup, Viola was a three-time All-Star who later pitched for his hometown New York Mets, as well as the Boston Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds, and Toronto Blue Jays. Over his 15-season career, he compiled 176 wins and 1,844 strikeouts, cementing his legacy as one of the premier southpaws of his era.
