George Brett stands as the undisputed legend of the Kansas City Royals, a fiercely competitive third baseman who spent his entire 21-year Hall of Fame career with the club. Known for his powerful left-handed swing and intense demeanor, Brett consistently delivered clutch hits and memorable moments. His pursuit of a .400 batting average in 1980 captivated the nation, ultimately finishing at a remarkable .390 en route to winning the American League MVP award. That season also saw him lead the Royals to their first World Series appearance. A 13-time All-Star, three-time batting champion (a feat accomplished in three different decades), and a Gold Glove winner, Brett's crowning achievement came in 1985 when he led the Royals to their first World Series championship, earning ALCS MVP honors along the way. His "pine tar incident" in 1983 remains one of baseball's most infamous and often-recounted stories. Brett retired in 1993 with 3,154 hits, 317 home runs, and a .305 career batting average, solidifying his status as one of only a handful of players in MLB history with 3,000 hits, 300 home runs, and a .300 average, and an enduring symbol of Royals baseball.
