Coming off a spectacular collegiate run at the University of North Carolina—where he captained the Tar Heels to the 1993 NCAA Championship and earned First-Team All-ACC honors—the 6'8" small forward was selected 12th overall in the 1993 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. Lynch immediately brought physical interior defense and high basketball IQ to the professional level, putting up a career-high 9.6 points per game in his rookie season. His definitive individual and team success came during his tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers under coach Larry Brown; as a primary defensive anchor alongside Allen Iverson, Lynch started 80 games and averaged 7.2 rebounds to help propel the 76ers to the 2001 NBA Finals. Known throughout his career for doing the gritty, unselfish work that rarely showed up in box scores, he also had productive stints with the Vancouver Grizzlies and the Hornets franchise in both Charlotte and New Orleans. Lynch retired in 2005 after appearing in 774 regular-season games, leaving behind a legacy defined by championship pedigree, defensive excellence, and toughness.
