Junior Seau was the heart and soul of the San Diego Chargers defense for 13 impactful seasons, from 1990 to 2002. Drafted fifth overall in the 1990 NFL Draft, the Oceanside native immediately became a hometown hero and a dominant force at linebacker. Known for his incredible passion, athleticism, and relentless pursuit of the ball, Seau was a perennial Pro Bowler during his time with the Chargers, earning the honor for 12 consecutive seasons (1991-2002). He was a six-time First-Team All-Pro selection with the Bolts and was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year by multiple outlets in 1992. Seau led the Chargers in tackles eight times and was instrumental in their 1994 AFC Championship run, which culminated in the team's only Super Bowl appearance (Super Bowl XXIX). His remarkable tenure with the Chargers was characterized by numerous accolades, including being named the team's MVP multiple times and his induction into the Chargers Hall of Fame, with his iconic No. 55 jersey deservedly retired by the franchise. His legacy as one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history was solidified with his posthumous induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015.
