Ken Boswell, born February 23, 1946, was a professional baseball second baseman who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) primarily for the New York Mets from 1967 to 1974, and later with the Houston Astros in 1975. A key contributor to the Mets' 1969 "Miracle Mets" World Series championship, Boswell was known for his reliable hitting and solid defensive skills. Over his MLB career, he batted .248 with 31 home runs and 244 RBIs in 930 games, with his best season coming in 1971 when he hit .273 with a career-high 5 home runs. A left-handed batter from Austin, Texas, Boswell was drafted by the Mets in 1965 and became a fan favorite for his hustle and versatility, often platooning at second base. After retiring, he largely stepped away from the public eye, leaving a legacy as a dependable player on one of baseball’s most iconic championship teams.
