While best known for his dominant years with the New York Mets, "Tom Terrific" Tom Seaver also made a significant mark on the Cincinnati Reds during his tenure from 1977 to 1982. Acquired in a blockbuster trade that shocked the baseball world, Seaver immediately became the ace of the Reds' staff. A highlight of his time in Cincinnati was pitching the only no-hitter of his illustrious career on June 16, 1978, against the St. Louis Cardinals. He was also instrumental in leading the Reds to an NL Western Division title in 1979 and earned the NL Comeback Player of the Year award in the strike-shortened 1981 season, where he went 14-2. Seaver's consistent excellence and veteran leadership were invaluable to the Reds, further cementing his legacy as one of baseball's all-time great pitchers, culminating in his 1992 Hall of Fame induction.
